Join us for an exciting Poetry Night and Competition celebrating the rich history and heritage of Sint Maarten, launching this Saturday June 28, 2025 ! Supported by the Dutch Foundation for Literature, this project invites poets from all walks of life to share their voices. The culmination of these series will be the publication of "The Pride of Sint Maarten" Anthology, showcasing the literary talent of our island.

1. Eligibility
Open to all residents of Sint Maarten aged 15 to 35 years old.
1st category : emerging poets (not previously published in a major literary publication or anthology).
2nd Category : Rising Stars minimum 35 years old (not previously published in a major literary publication or anthology).
2. Theme

Submissions must reflect one or more of the following:
Identity & Heritage
Personal or Family Histories
Life in Sint Maarten
Cultural Resilience or Memory
3. Submission Format
Poem must be original, written by the performer.
Language: English (Creole and Dutch expressions accepted if contextually relevant).
Length: Maximum 2 minutes when performed.
Text must be submitted in advance in written format (.doc, .pdf or typed).
4. Judging Criteria
Poems will be judged based on:
Originality and Creativity (30%)
Relevance to Theme (25%)
Delivery and Stage Presence (25%)
Emotional Impact (20%)
5. Prizes for each Category
1st Place: Guaranteed publication in The Pride of Sint Maarten Anthology + $250 + Featured Performance
2nd Place: Publication consideration + $100
3rd Place: Honorable mention + Gift Certificate
6. Performance Night
Date: Saturday June 28th 2025
Venue: Axum Art Café
Poets will perform live in front of a panel of judges and the audience.
All participants must arrive 30 minutes before the start for check-in.
7. Rights & Publication
By entering, poets grant the Art Agency Foundation the non-exclusive right to publish or record their work for promotional and cultural purposes.
Poets retain full ownership of their work.
8. Code of Conduct
Hate speech, discriminatory language, or explicit content will result in automatic disqualification.
Respect for fellow poets and the audience is mandatory.
